I’m a senior software engineer with experience spanning systems administration, backend development, consulting, and technical leadership, primarily in the JVM ecosystem. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked on everything from early-career Linux hosting environments and Perl-based production systems to modern Java and Spring platforms running in cloud-native architectures.

Much of my work has involved stepping into existing systems that were under strain — whether from scale, legacy decisions, organizational change, or shifting business requirements — and helping make them more understandable and sustainable. I’ve designed and reworked architectures that improved performance, reduced coupling, and made long-lived codebases easier to reason about and evolve. In practice, that often means translating messy real-world requirements into explicit domain models and enforceable architectural boundaries.

I’ve worked across a wide range of domains, including financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, and embedded systems, in both product-focused teams and long-term consulting engagements. That breadth has given me a pragmatic view of architecture: what holds up over time, what fails under pressure, and which tradeoffs are worth making when theory meets production reality.

I’ve also contributed directly to open source projects when doing so was the most effective way to solve real problems, particularly around tooling, modularity, and integration with the Java platform. I value environments where engineers are trusted to engage upstream rather than working around limitations in isolation.

Technically, my background is strongest in modern Java and Spring-based systems on Linux, with experience across relational databases, messaging systems, and containerized workflows. More broadly, I’m interested in how software architecture can be made explicit and enforceable, rather than relying solely on convention or tribal knowledge.
